Experienced luxury hotel promotion guru Gavin Maloney has joined Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour as its new Director of Sales and Marketing.
Maloney joins Sofitel in the midst of a long hotel career which began in a F&B role and has seen him climb to a senior role as Regional Sales Director with Starwood Hotels & Resorts, where he managed 23 hotels and spas across 11 countries in Europe, including ensuring 16 of these properties opened on time and on budget across Europe over a three year period. Other successes include solidify a market position for the Westin and Le Meridien Mina Seyahi Complex in Dubai. He also took on a global account management role for Starwood based in Sydney.
Having steered a variety of luxury hotels on four continents through highly competitive environments and challenging circumstances, Maloney is well versed in how to make a hotel stand out from the pack. Having worked in Australia, Asia, the Middle East and Europe, in his new role he will be responsible for developing and driving rate and occupation strategies, partnerships and brand identity.

In his new role, Maloney will oversee the hotel’s entire sales and marketing division, developing rate and occupancy strategies, fostering commercial partnerships and driving brand identity as the hotel continues to stamp its mark on the local scene following its 2017.
