Features such as flexible check-in and check-out are among a menu of perks available to travelling musicians and artists from Ibis Hotels Australia in a new push for the Economy brand to the music and live performance sector.
Responding to the meteoric rise of online video and music streaming services and the need for artists to draw income from live touring, AccorHotels’ Ibis brand will also add unlimited wi-fi and bottled water, 10% off food and beverage and access to Le Club AccorHotels loyalty benefits to travelling booking under rates reserved for those involved in the music industry.
Dubbed ‘Play ‘n’ Stay’ rates, guests will also receive complimentary parking if available for vehicles up to 12 seats in size, meaning the whole travelling band is covered.
The new benefits for touring musicians come in response to AccorHotels’ efforts working with the Association of Artist Managers (AAM). Co-chairman of the AAM, Greg Carey, said the demands on musicians beyond the stage were demanding, with late nights, early mornings, finding parking spaces and more, so it was great the Ibis hotels brand was coming to the party to help.
“The AAM is thrilled to be partnering with AccorHotels on this unique touring initiative across their ibis hotels portfolio. Touring is such a vital part of an artist’s career in terms of building a fan-base and income streams such as live performance and merchandise) as well as playing festivals. Although it’s a buzz for artists, it can be expensive, tiring and a strain on the mental health for all involved. Cue late nights, early check outs, finding space to park the bus, the list goes on.
“It’s revolutionary and something that is going help hundreds of developing bands and their managers. We’re super grateful and pumped to bring this new partnership to our members.”
