Contemporary design hotel brand Ovolo Hotels has made a new appointment, hiring Raoul Gundelach to oversee the evolution of the Ovolo marque in Australia and other select markets during the brand’s ongoing development.
Based in Hong Kong, Gundelach’s appointment comes as the brand adds to its property portfolio. Already with three in its collection, Ovolo will see a fourth join during Q4 2018 when renovations and refurbishment of Ovolo The Valley Brisbane are completed. Another aspect of Gundelach’s role will be to continue to evolve the company’s design hotel concept, Mojo Nomad, as more properties come online and others are added to the pipeline.
Restaurants will also be a key area of focus for Gundelach, ahead of the brand’s forthcoming collaboration with celebrity chef Justin North. Dining outlets including Mister Percy Bar + Kitchen Pyrmont and Hong Kong’s Komune are both putting on the finishing touches ahead of launch, while Mexican eatery Te Quiero Mucho in Hong Kong will open its doors in August.
“Raoul’s appointment is not only an integral one for Ovolo in this era of expansion but also a reflection of Ovolo’s continued appetite to disrupt and be genuinely different,” said Ovolo Hotel Group Director of Marketing Stephen Howard.
Educated in Australia, Gundelach joins Ovolo from similar brand, account and advertising roles in Australia, working with brands including Hyundai, Harley-Davidson, Fujitsu and Sanofi.
Commenting on his appointment, Gundelach said: “For me, the opportunity to join Ovolo Hotels, working on multiple brands across a period of major growth for the company is too good to be true. I’ve already experienced first-hand the passion founder Girish Jhunjhnuwala has to disrupt and give guests a truly unique experience, and there’s no doubt he and the leadership team have a really strong vision of what we can achieve.”
