Sails Port Macquarie unveiled a brand new multi-million dollar function centre, which overlooks the idyllic port, at a glamourous launch event attended by 300 VIP guests last week (11 May 2018).
The elegant soiree saw guests greeted on arrival by a classical pianist tinkering the keys on a baby grand piano, freshly shucked oysters and French champagne.
The reveal has been a long time coming, with construction wrapping up recently after four and a half years in the making.
Speaking at the launch, Sails Port Macquarie General Manager Nick McLaughlin said the resort transformation was “nothing short of magnificent”.
“Each detail from room design, to selection of resort landscaping, furniture and tableware has been carefully orchestrated to create that ambient Hamptons coastal feel.
“The team is looking forward to welcoming guests to experience this gorgeous new venue in particular our exquisite wedding and event spaces.
“Tonight recognises and reveals the collaboration of owners, designers, construction teams and the wider EVENT group and signals a new era for Sails Port Macquarie as a premium leisure and events destination”.
After relaxing on the deck, the revellers, to include professional conference organisers, media and the extended business community, were elevated to the exclusive third floor event level revealing The Cape Ballroom, a pillar less event space designed to cater for up to 600 in a cocktail style or 300 for a banquet style event.
The ballroom itself featuring impressive floor to ceiling windows over the bay was adorned with lush tropical greenery and decadent grazing stations, live Brazilian and Japanese food carts and set to the tune of party band Alter Ego.
Guests danced the night away to the backdrop of sparkling evening vistas across the marina enjoyed from the private ballroom terrace.
Dignities and special guests in attendance include Member for Port Macquarie Leslie Williams, The Mattick, Salter and Barker families were all present with Owner David Mattick praising the work of the design and construction team and heralding the space as the premier leisure and event between Sydney and the Gold Coast.
Additionally, Director of Hotels and Resorts Operations for the EVENT Group – Norman Arundel flew in just for the occasion.
An entire wing of the resort has been revamped and rejuvenated, revealing a brand new ballroom, Boathouse and Restaurant, waterfront wedding chapel and event pavilion, tennis court, bayside swimming pool with entertainment terrace and private cabanas, plus 92 guest rooms and suites.
