Oaks Hotels & Resorts has announced plans to launch Oaks Wellington next year.
Slated to open its doors in Q2 2019, the nine-storey tower is located in Courtenay Place in Wellington’s CBD. A multi-million facelift will transform the former Colonial Motor Company Building site – originally constructed in 1923 – into a contemporary 4.5 star hotel that will be managed by Oaks Hotels & Resorts.
Oaks Wellington will have 226 hotel rooms and one bedroom apartments with Smart TVs, keyless entry and high-speed Wi-Fi, with some rooms offering water views.
The hotel will have a first-floor restaurant and bar, a gymnasium, ground floor communal lounge, conferencing venues and underground parking.
Chief operations officer of Oaks Hotels & Resorts – Australia and New Zealand, Craig Hooley, says, “We are delighted to announce our brand’s first foray into Wellington, which plays into our international expansion strategy and perfectly complements our existing New Zealand portfolio spanning Queenstown and Auckland.
“Wellington is a dynamic city with so much to offer and continues to enjoy strong tourism growth, particularly from Australian markets. We are confident this property will be a success when it opens its doors to travellers next year and look forward to having a brand presence in three key New Zealand destinations,” said Hooley.
