Virgin Australia is set to up the ante on trans-Tasman flights following the upcoming cessation on October 28 of the airline’s partnership with Air New Zealand.
In an exclusive video interview with HM and sister travel website WAYFARER at Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE), currently being held in Adelaide this week (Apr 18), Virgin Australia’s Group Executive Rob Sharp said new routes were being added over the Tasman to New Zealand and others were being increased.
He said Virgin Australia would commence up to five flights per week between Sydney and Wellington, as well as up to four flights per week between Melbourne and Queenstown.
Flights to Auckland were also being increased to Auckland from Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, Sharp said.
In the exclusive interview, Sharp spoke about the new flights, Virgin’s latest innovations, the upcoming launch of Sydney-Hong Kong flights and much more.
