The fitspo trend continues, with major hotel groups Westin Hotels and Resorts, JW Marriott and Pullman Hotels and Resorts adding new wellness programs for guests to enjoy.
Westin Hotels and Resorts has answered the call by launching the Westin Let’s Rise Workout Series, an in-room, HIIT workout program, curated by and starring certified health coach and model Rachael Finch.
The workout videos will be available exclusively from 21 November 2017 for guests of Westin Hotels & Resorts in Australia and Fiji.
There are a total of six videos for guests to choose from including: two 15-minute full-body, HIIT work-outs; two 8-minute ab attacks; a short warm-up session; and a cool down and stretch routine. The workouts can be achieved comfortably in any guestroom and do not require special equipment.
“We know 65% of travellers exercise less when they’re on the road. Guests often don’t have time to squeeze a workout into their schedule or have access to high intensity gym classes, which is why we’ve partnered with Rachael to launch the Westin Let’s Rise Workout Series,” said Sean Hunt, Area Vice President, Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific. “Rachael’s in-room HIIT sessions will bring to life our global Let’s Rise campaign in Australia and Fiji, furthering our commitment to helping guests take ownership of their health and wellbeing.
W Marriott Hotels & Resorts, in partnership with The Joffrey Ballet, has also launched a series of workout videos based around the foundations of ballet.
The program was created to teach employees to exhibit finesse and gracefulness as part of their daily routines, ultimately resulting in a refined guest experience.
“Guests of JW Marriott are always seeking new and innovative ways to stay active while on the road,” said Christy Donato, Vice President, Global Brand Management, JW Marriott. “Our partnership with The Joffrey Ballet provides an elevated fitness experience that goes beyond the traditional in-room workout, allowing our guests to tailor their fitness routine to best fit their travel schedule.”
A ‘Barre-to-Bar’ experiential pop-up will debut in Singapore and regular barre classes will be offered at JW Marriott Singapore South Beach, the brand’s most recent landmark opening in the region. This is the first in a series of JW Marriott Barre-to-Bar pop-ups with more planned for key gateway cities across Asia-Pacific including Shanghai and Seoul in 2018.
We believe exceptional service starts with exceptional training. That’s why we’ve set the bar even higher by teaching our associates how to develop their natural poise and grace,” said Carol Zhou, Senior Director, Luxury Brand Management – Asia Pacific, Marriott International. “Barre is becoming a very popular workout across Asia-Pacific, particularly in China, which is why our next stop will be in Shanghai next year.”
The barre-themed pop-up events are open to the public today, November 2 at Ocean Financial Centre in the city’s central business district, and will move to ION Orchard at the heart of Singapore’s lively shopping district from November 4-5.
Meanwhile, Pullmans new approach to guest health revolves around what they deem to be for the four pillars of wellness: Sleep, Food, Sport and Spa.
For the Food pillar, the program includes an Active Breakfast created by Sarah Hoey. Menu options encompass the four fundamentals of age defense, energy boost, balance and detox. A variety of foods cater to individual requirements and tastes, including dairy, sugar and gluten free selections.
Throughout the day, body and facial treatments at the Spa reflect the needs of the guest. Examples include: Dawn treatment to wake up gently; Daytime treatment to feel invigorated; Evening treatment to slow down. As with the breakfast menus, each treatment may be customized for age defense, energy boost, balance and detox.
Sport is addressed through a series of 7-minute videos available on YouTube. Guests may follow Sarah’s yoga and fitness routines in their guestrooms, or join in a group fitness class. A fitness bag and local jogging map are also provided.
To encourage more restful Sleep, a short guide to gentle stretching and exercise is provided: a morning routine enabling the body and muscles to wake up; and an evening routine to relieve tension accumulated during the course of the day.
“Ensuring widespread wellbeing is at the heart of this approach. It must be accessible to everyone, regardless of your location, your time zone, how your diary is looking or your personal practice,” said Lilian Roten, Brand leader, Pullman Hotels and Resorts. “We encourage our guests to incorporate components of wellness into their routine while traveling to create more energy, better rest and a more pleasurable journey.”
