Marriott International has revealed one of North Queensland’s popular resorts will take on the Sheraton ‘Grand’ tag.
Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort Port Douglas, which recently underwent a AUD$43 million renovation, is one of two Sheraton Grand properties in Australia, recognised for their enticing destinations, distinguished designs and excellence in service and guest experiences.
“Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort, Port Douglas is a property we are extremely proud of,” said Yi Yu from Fullshare Group, owners of Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort, Port Douglas.
“The hotel’s excellence in service, location and reputation is extremely deserving of this designation. We look forward to even more successes and innovations for this iconic resort in the future.”
Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort, Port Douglas joins a portfolio of 37 Sheraton Grand properties worldwide, with destinations ranging from Salzburg and Dubai, to Beijing and Nashville.
Sheraton Grand is one of many initiatives currently underway as part of Sheraton 2020, a comprehensive plan to solidify Sheraton as a leading global hotel brand of choice, everywhere.
“We are very proud to welcome Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort, Port Douglas to Sheraton’s premier tier of hotels and resorts, which recognises the highest levels of design and service,” said Sean Hunt, Area Vice President, Australia, New Zealand and Pacific.
“This designation marks a new era for the newly renovated resort, reinforcing its position as one of Australia’s most iconic hotels.”
The recently renovated Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort, Port Douglas features 295 rooms and suites, including 41 Lagoon Edge Rooms and 12 Lagoon Edge Studio Suites. The ground floor suites have private balconies, offering guests breathtaking views and direct access to the resort’s saltwater lagoon swimming pools. The guest rooms feature a modern, crisp and minimalist design, with driftwood timber tiled floors, stone-topped mini bars, natural wooden furnishings and splashes of coastal turquoise green capturing the resort’s beachside location.
Beyond the guest rooms, Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort, Port Douglas features a reinvigorated lobby experience with new express VIP check-in and check-out hubs, which provides a seamless arrival and departure process. The refresh also features the Sheraton brand’s debut of SPG Keyless in Asia Pacific – the industry’s first truly mobile and keyless entry system that allows Starwood Preferred Guest members to use their smartphone as a key to their rooms through the SPG app.
Guests can also enjoy a variety of enhanced dining options, including the debut of the Sheraton brand’s signature restaurant Feast, featuring an interactive buffet and poolside seating on the outdoor deck. The remodelled Daintree Bar and Lounge offers a selection of small plates expertly matched with premium wines and craft beers; and the new Lobby Café provides barista coffee, light meals and snacks.
Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort, Port Douglas also presents a memorable option for meetings, conferences and events, with flexible indoor and outdoor spaces to suit a small group of 20 or a large event of 1,000 attendees. The refurbished function facilities include the Mirage Ballroom, which can cater for 300 people theatre style or be elegantly partitioned for three separate ballroom spaces. The refreshed foyer area can also be used separately for any pre-function activities.
“We are proud to receive the Sheraton Grand designation, joining the existing portfolio of esteemed Sheraton hotels and resorts worldwide,” said Steve Molnar, General Manager for Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort, Port Douglas.
“The designation is a testament of our excellent relationship with our owners, who work closely with us to ensure the resort continuously exceeds guest expectations in design and service. It is thanks to the resort associates and the memorable service experiences they provide that we have received the Sheraton Grand status.”
