Los Angeles has a plethora of new hotels set to open over the next three years and HM has the essential list.
2017
The James Hotel Los Angeles
The James Hotel brand will arrive to the Los Angeles area in April 2017, where it will be situated in the heart of the iconic Sunset Strip at the southeast corner of Sunset and La Cienega Boulevards in West Hollywood. The James Los Angeles – West Hollywood will be the first new ground-up hotel in the area in approximately 30 years, and will be comprised of two 10-storey towers with 286 rooms, two restaurants – including an Italian concept operated sbe, rooftop and lobby bars and approximately 10,000 square feet of meeting space.
Dream Hollywood Hotel
The West Coast’s first Dream Hotel will debut in the heart of Hollywood on Selma and Cahuenga in February 2017. Designed by the award-winning Rockwell Group, the 10-storey boutique luxury Dream Hollywood Hotel will feature 179 hyper-chic rooms and suites, unique-to-market dining experiences and a rooftop pool and lounge.
Hotel Indigo Downtown Los Angeles
InterContinental Hotels Group will debut Hotel Indigo Downtown Los Angeles, a hip 350-room hotel in March 2017. The 18-storey Hotel Indigo will be the flagship hotel at Metropolis, a USD$1 billion mixed-use development which will feature three residential towers and a curated retail experience. The property will sit at the heart of Downtown L.A, linking the Financial District of L.A. LIVE. Design for the hotel will be inspired by its surrounding neighbourhood and will focus on prominent narratives from Downtown’s past including Fiesta De Las Flores, the glamorous pre-Hollywood nightlife scene and the underground speakeasies of the roaring twenties.
The Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills
The Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills will be a new 12-storey, 170-room luxury hotel that will rise at the corner of Wilshire and Santa Monica Boulevards in Beverly Hills. Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills will boast inspirational cuisine from award-winning chefs, a rooftop pool and lounge, lobby bar and upscale exclusive retail. The hotel is slated to open in June 2017.
InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown
InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown at Wilshire Grand Center will stand 73 stories tall and feature 900 luxury rooms, a sky-lobby on the 70th floor, 400,000 square feet of office space, new shops, restaurants and thrilling nightlife options. It will be the tallest building west of Chicago at 1,100 feet when it opens in June 2017.
Freehand Hotel and Hostel
Sydell Group will introduce the Freehand Hotel and Hostel in April 2017 after transforming the 1924 Commercial Exchange Building in Downtown L.A.’s Historic Core. The 13-storey building will boast 226 rooms, ranging from traditional accommodations to high-design hostels (or “poshtels”) with up to eight beds. The hotel will also feature a lobby living room, retail, restaurant and bar offerings in addition to a rooftop pool and lounge.
Cambria El Segundo LAX
Choice Hotels International’s upscale Cambria badge will enter the Los Angeles area with the opening of Cambria El Segundo LAX. Slated to open March 2017, the hotel will be developed by Fillmore Hospitality and feature 152 rooms and a bistro called Social Circle. The hotel will be located about two miles south of Los Angeles International Airport.
NoMad Los Angeles
Sydell Group (The Line Hotel) will transform Giannini Place, a historic 1923 building in Downtown Los Angeles, into NoMad Los Angeles in November 2017. The 12-storey hotel will feature 250 guest rooms with custom-designed furnishings and original artwork. Guests will have access to a rooftop pool boasting panoramic views of the city. NoMad will also offer multiple food and beverage venues, in addition to 1,000-square-foot of retail and meeting rooms.
2018
The West Hollywood EDITION
The first U.S. West Coast property under Marriott International and Ian Schrager’s Edition lifestyle brand will open on West Hollywood’s Sunset Strip in early 2018. Developed by the Witkoff Group and New Valley, the hotel will have 190 rooms.
Downtown L.A. Proper
Proper Hotels is slated to open Downtown L.A. Proper, a high-end lifestyle boutique hotel geared toward leisure and business travellers, in Autumn 2018. The 13-storey hotel will boast 145 guest rooms, two unique presidential suites as well as a rooftop with a restaurant, bar and swimming pool. The historic 1924 building is located at 11th and Broadway.
2019
Park Hyatt at Oceanwide Plaza
Oceanwide Plaza, a USD$1 billion mixed-use development project across STAPLES Center, will include L.A.’s first hotel under the Park Hyatt luxury badge with 184 rooms and 34 suites and more than 150,000 square feet of commercial retail space when it opens in early 2019.
2020
W Los Angeles Downtown
The W Los Angeles Downtown is slated to open in Q2 2020. The 250-room property will be located across the street from L.A. LIVE and STAPLES Center and will be the W brand’s third location in Southern California. The hotel will feature a spa, outdoor pool deck and destination restaurants along with approximately 15,000 square feet of meeting and event space.
DATE TBD
Hotel Clark
Hotel Clark will deliver a 347-room hotel just north of Pershing Square in Downtown L.A. The 11-storey renovated 113-year-old historic building will feature guest rooms with lively Mod-style details, a ballroom, a pool deck and multiple dining spaces.
Trinity/Embassy Hotel
A 1914 historic building will be fully resorted as the 183-room Trinity/Embassy Hotel and will boast the historic Trinity Auditorium, a stunning ballroom, a rooftop pool deck and a restaurant/bar with outdoor patio.
