Mercure Tamworth is ready to open its doors and welcome first guests to the new-build hotel on Friday 23 December 2016.
The three-storey, 52-room new Mercure Tamworth hotel is a welcome addition to West Tamworth Leagues Club on Phillip Street, just 12kms from the main regional airport and five hours drive north of Sydney.
The internationally-branded midscale hotel is located within the League Club’s precinct which offers food and beverage outlets, entertainment venues, a stadium, gaming and conferencing facilities. Hotel guest facilities include a heated swimming pool, gymnasium, three meeting rooms, a shuttle bus service and direct access to the Leagues Club.
AccorHotels Pacific Chief Operating Officer, Simon McGrath, said: “After months of collaborating with Wests Entertainment Group we are delighted to open the new Mercure Tamworth. The hotel’s opening signifies AccorHotels’ confidence in regional NSW’s bourgeoning tourism sector, by injecting much-needed new hotel supply into the country music capital.
“The hotel is a welcome addition to the Leagues Club, which will support the existing facilities to the benefit of members, as well as attracting new business and leisure guests. Tamworth’s local economy is also set to benefit with the creation of up to 35 new employment opportunities directly associated with the hotel’s opening,” he said.
Wests Entertainment Group CEO, Rod Laing, said: “We are extremely excited to be partnering with AccorHotels. We believe the new Mercure Tamworth will be a welcome addition to Tamworth and the surrounding region. Opening just in time for Christmas and the Country Music Festival, Tamworth’s major summer tourism event, the hotel will guarantee a new accommodation experience for those visiting Tamworth and the region any time of the year.”
