The Star Sydney has revealed its new casual dining pop-up restaurant, Luke Nguyen Street Food.
Award-winning chef Luke Nguyen has today opened his eponymous pop-up restaurant in The Star’s Café Court through to the end of November, serving up the very best in rustic Southeast Asian street fare.
“I’m really excited to help build on the The Star’s pop-up restaurant success, and look forward to offering food lovers some of the best rustic dishes from my recent street adventures,” Nguyen said.
“I guarantee visitors an exotic mix of tastes, textures and flavours straight from the heart of Southeast Asia.”
The opening of the pop-up coincides with the launch of Luke’s new SBS TV series Luke Nguyen’s Street Food Asia, which will air eight episodes nationally every Thursday at 8pm from 1 September.
The specially crafted menu is inspired by the vibrant destinations visited in Nguyen’s TV series, including Saigon, Bangkok, Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur.
Each week the hole-in-the-wall pop-up will dish out a mix of Luke’s favourite dishes from the series including lobster tom yum with mussels, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves and vermicelli noodles ($23), Vietnamese baguette with char-grilled lemon-grass, Kurobuta pork patties, pork floss, pickled vegetables, coriander and chilli ($15), and Smashed fried crispy chicken with chilli sambal and rice ($15), just to name a few.
“We are delighted to welcome Luke Nguyen Street Food to The Star’s casual dining precinct,” said The Star’s Food and Beverage General Manager, Andy North.
“It will be a rare and almost virtual opportunity for Luke’s fans and The Star’s visitors to taste the sensational street cuisine featured in his new show for themselves.”
The opening of Luke Nguyen Street Food pop-up follows the huge success of Sokyo Ramen by Chase Kojima and Singapore Hawker Style, two pop-ups that featured at The Star over the last year. The pop-up builds on Luke’s existing relationship with The Star with his Fat Noodle restaurant being one of the most popular venues at the dining precinct.
