Hotel heavyweights are gathering in Sydney next month to give young professionals, graduates and students the chance to upgrade their careers, by providing access to some of the biggest names in the travel and tourism industry.
On May 16, the Hotel Career Expo, will take place in Sydney and it will see 20 of the world’s biggest names in the hotel business – including Hilton, AccorHotels, Shangri-La, Marriott and Four Seasons – gather for one day only at the InterContinental Sydney to give those interested in professional careers in hotels, the chance to meet with people who have already carved out successful livelihoods.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for students or professionals wanting to progress in a specific career field, from engineering to marketing, but apply it to the hotel industry, which has a huge demand for expert skill sets,” said Tourism Accommodation Australia (TAA) CEO, Carol Giuseppi.
Indeed, the Federal Government has stated that by 2020, 123,000 workers inclusive of 60,000 skilled workers will be needed in the travel and tourism industry.
On the day, delegates will have access to key personnel behind some of the world’s best known hotel establishments, providing insight into how they’ve developed successful professional careers and how this success might be emulated.
“All of the leading names in the business will be in one place, to answer the questions of the industry’s potential next generation and also to demonstrate the breadth of the roles available, which goes far beyond food, beverage and housekeeping,” Giuseppi said.
Also attending the event will be hotel engineers, marketing experts and chefs, to name but a few. They will be highlighting how their careers have flourished.
More than 20 of Sydney’s top hotel brands will attend the Expo and be involved in the full day of seminar sessions, giving delegates the advice they need to start their professional career in the hotel industry, as well as offering roles, graduate programs and internships.
“It is extremely rare to get the industry’s top hotel brands in one place, so I urge anyone interested in the industry to come to the event to get their career started,” Giuseppi said.
“They will soon see that it’s a highly skilled team of varied individuals, that keeps a successful hotel operational and ensures that the customer journey at every touchpoint is memorable and positive.
