Michelin-starred chef, Pierre Gagnaire, has been appointed to lead La Maison 1888, the number one gastronomic destination in Vietnam.
Located on the grounds of one of the world’s most celebrated and striking international resort destinations, InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, La Maison 1888 captures the essence of haute French dining.
The restaurant was the first in Vietnam to feature a Michelin-starred chef and follows that tradition with the appointment of Chef Gagnaire.
“When InterContinental extended the invitation to me to come, I accepted immediately. I have had a wonderful relationship with them for many years now, with our continued success in Tokyo and Dubai, so it was my pleasure to be in a position to say yes to taking on La Maison 1888 as my own,” shared Chef Gagnaire.
“The quality and vision of this restaurant is very special. The InterContinental and I share a vision. It is not just mine. I bring my style of cooking but together we create the experience. The menu is a link between my philosophy, my style of cooking and this country. The culinary culture here in Vietnam is precise and elegant. We must pay homage to the history. It has a real style of its own and this is woven into the story of La Maison 1888.”
La Maison 1888 has been featured in Architectural Digest’s Top Ten list of most beautifully designed new restaurants with a sumptuous design that recreates an antique French mansion, with each dining area its own intimate, reflective period room.
La Maison 1888’s setting conveys the fictitious story of a colonial French-Eurasian family through the mediums of architecture and interior design. Private dining rooms invoke the personalities of the family; from the sensible Accountant’s Room to the adventurous Traveler’s Room and the more risqué Le Boudoir de Madame.
Before embarking on their culinary adventure, guests can relax in the spectacular Buffalo Bar for a pre-dinner cocktail or glass of vintage champagne, before being escorted to their dining table. Afterwards, guests can select a post-dinner drink from the extensive menu of aged whiskies and infused vodkas on the magnificent terrace, with superb views over the resort and the East Sea beyond. The exclusive wine cellar offers one of the best collections in the region, including rare vintages that have been hand chosen by the sommelier.
“We are delighted to welcome Chef Pierre Gagnaire to La Maison 1888. Such an iconoclastic dining destination required one of the world’s best to continue to author its wonderful gastronomic journey and with Chef Gagnaire we have certainly gone one better,” said Iain McCormack, General Manager of InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort.
“Chef Gagnaire brings a spectacular reputation as both an innovator of the finest French cuisine and leader of the fusion cuisine movement and marries that with being both a delight to work with and a true inspiration to us all.”
