Hyatt Hotels and Resorts has today (Jul 21) announced it has entered into a management agreement with the operators of Essendon Fields for a Hyatt Place hotel at the airport.
Expected to open in 2017, Hyatt Place Melbourne Essendon Fields will mark the first Hyatt Place hotel in Australia.
Located in the 305-hectare Essendon Fields development, the eight-storey hotel will offer 166 guestrooms in stylish and seamless surroundings. Hyatt Place Melbourne Essendon Fields will cater to a multi-tasking business traveller, and families who require a 24/7, flexible experience.
The property will be adjacent to a new Events Centre, which will unlock meeting, conference and event opportunities for Melbourne’s North West.
Australia’s Deputy Prime Minister, Warren Truss, officially announced details today of the new Hyatt Place Hotel and adjoining Events Centre also attended by local dignitaries as well as Andrew Fox and Max Beck representing the Essendon Fields joint venture owners, Linfox Property Group and Beck Property Group.
Truss welcomed the investment, which in addition to supporting aviation, will help drive future economic activity in Melbourne’s North-West, creating around 400 jobs during the construction phase and ongoing employment at the Events Centre.
“Airports are now business destinations in their own right and provide a powerful economic engine for their home region and local communities,” Truss said.
“Not only will this development contribute towards local job creation on-site, the broader economy will benefit through the demand for day-to-day goods and services needed to operate the facilities.”
At Hyatt Place Melbourne Essendon Fields, guests will enjoy spacious rooms that provide separate sleeping and living spaces, food freshly prepared around the clock, a full bar, high-end technology, including complimentary WiFi and adaptable spaces for business and social events.
“We are delighted to bring the Hyatt Place brand to Melbourne, and are honored to start our relationship with Essendon Fields, a joint venture between Linfox Group and Beck Corporation, two of Australia’s most prominent family companies,” said Robert Dawson, Area Vice President of Pacific, Hyatt Hotels and Resorts.
“Hyatt Place was designed for today’s multi-tasking travellers 24/7 lifestyle by combining stylish design and practical amenities with forward-thinking technology and purposeful service. Hyatt Place Melbourne, Essendon Fields will offer a fresh and friendly stay experience, ideal for business and leisure travellers.
“We are confident that travellers to Essendon Fields, a strategic gateway on the aviation corridor into Melbourne, will find the comfort they want and the service they deserve at Hyatt Place,” Dawson said.
The hotel will front one of Melbourne’s most important roads, the Tullamarine Freeway. With over 210,000 cars passing the site every day and the adjoining Larkin Events Centre, the hotel’s location will be unparalleled.
“Today, our vision to deliver Melbourne’s North-West an international first class hotel and state-of-the-art Events Centre becomes a reality. The hotel is an exciting addition to Essendon Fields and will service a growing need for airport travellers and local businesses. It also enhances the appeal for businesses to join the flourishing Business District at Essendon Fields,” said Chris Cowan, Essendon Fields CEO.
“The Events Centre will provide a venue of unprecedented facilities, space and technology for this area. This will be the only facility with this capacity in the region and it will further strengthen the unique amenity offering at Essendon Fields. Everything about The Events Centre is geared around guests having a first class experience,” he said.
