InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has implemented MyMedia by Shodogg, a Bring Your Own Content guest entertainment solution leveraging both local and cloud content, at five hotel properties across Australia including Crowne Plaza Canberra, Crowne Plaza Coogee Beach, Crowne Plaza Melbourne, Crowne Plaza Terrigal and Holiday Inn Potts Point. In total, IHG has deployed MyMedia in 1,372 hotel rooms across Australia.
“MyMedia enables our hospitality partners to meet the growing industry demand for seamless Bring Your Own Device/Bring Your Own Content guest entertainment solutions while delivering strong value to all stakeholders,” said Geoff Sykes, President of Shodogg International.
“Our solution provides a choice of local and cloud content with compatibility and entertainment value for guests, reduces the hardware pain for hoteliers and offers minimal impact on the sites’ ISP charges.”
MyMedia utilises patented Shodogg technology, which enables guests to access their personal content (movies, videos, photos and music) from a combination of sources including their personal device, cloud content repositories and social media sites like Facebook and Instagram. Guests can then instantly cast their selected content to the smart TV screen in their hotel room without additional hardware or wires.
To use MyMedia, guests access the hotel’s WiFi on their mobile device, open the MyMedia app, connect their device to the in-room TV using a patented connect code available on the TV screen, then instantly and securely cast their personal media to the big screen. When the guest chooses to disconnect from MyMedia, they leave no trace of the session behind on the screen, keeping content secure at the original source.
MyMedia is currently compatible with Android and iOS smartphones and tablets.
