It was a super-jumbo fit for a super-star as Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow jetted to Singapore this week to launch British Airways’ A380 between London and the Southeast Asian City.
The Hollywood star dazzled onlookers at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, as she posed for a gravity-defying photo shoot, which saw her suspended in a British Airways Club World (business class) seat in the middle of the resort’s famous infinity pool.
The actress, who jetted in from Los Angeles, looked the epitome of Hollywood glamour with a touch of British flair, wearing a floor-length teal dress by British designer Safiyaa and ‘sky-high’ heels by Jimmy Choo.
Paltrow said, “Singapore has always been a top destination on my wish list, so when British Airways approached me to help launch their impressive A380 I couldn’t resist – it was a great opportunity, both fun and truly unique.
“The location for the shoot was stunning and I’m glad to finally have a photo of myself in the famous infinity pool. With my job I fly a lot, so it’s great that I can now travel to Singapore in style on British Airways’ superjumbo.
“I’m a big fan of the local cuisine, especially the chilli crab, and I’ve really enjoyed exploring the city and trying the amazing variety of food on offer. There’s still so much that I want to visit here and I look forward to returning soon.”
To celebrate the new aircraft and the extra 4,000 seats per month it will provide on the route, customers in Australia can take advantage of special 2015 ‘Early Bird’ fares to London.
Fares start from $1,777 (inclusive of taxes and surcharges) during low season in World Traveller economy, on bookings made by November 19, 2014, with travel permitted between March 1-24 and May 6-26, 2015. Early Bird travel is permitted March 1 to September 30, 2015, with a variety of fares available.
British Airways will continue the A380 launch festivities this evening (October 29, 2014) as it hosts an exclusive event on the roof of Marina Bay Sands.
Celebrating the best of British design and craftsmanship, the event will feature renowned perfumery brand Jo Malone London and will be attended by a number of VIP guests, including Anthony Philipson the British High Commissioner to Singapore and leading British physicist Brian Cox.
The A380 will feature on the BA12 Singapore to London Heathrow service operating on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, and the returning BA11 London Heathrow to Singapore service operating on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Flights on other days will continue to be operated by a Boeing 747 with the 777-300ER, calling into Singapore as part of the BA15/16 Heathrow to Sydney route.
