It’s been described as Shangri-La’s global flagship hotel, one that leads the way in room product, design, food and beverage, meeting facilities and service.
And when you first walk in, it’s easy to see why. From the crystals that line to ceiling in the lobby to the cocktails in the hotel’s speakeasy-style 1515 West bar, the Shangri-La Jing An hotel in West Shanghai is flawless.
So, you could say there’s a fair amount of pressure on Australian-American General Manager Ed Brea to ensure everything runs to plan.
Brea, who was born in Hawaii and who has spent the greater part of his career in Queensland, takes it in his stride and runs a property that’s up there with the city’s best.
To find out more about the property, the Shanghai market and how the hotel excels in food and beverage, Brea spoke exclusively to HM on camera at the property recently.
