Rydges Hotels and Resorts have been appointed to manage Sails Resort in Port Macquarie from 1 July 2013.
The new owners, Bayside Group, are significant owners of land and businesses within the Port Macquarie CBD and their current assets include Rydges Hotel Port Macquarie, The Royal Hotel, Port Macquarie Hotel and Town Green Inn freeholds as well as various retail and commercial premises throughout the CBD.
Over many years Bayside Group have added to the community of Port Macquarie not only through their developments but also through financially supporting community projects which have added to the Port Macquarie culture and precinct. Bayside Group are very proud of their contribution to the community of Port Macquarie.
They plan to undertake significant short term capital works to Sails Resort in a manner that will not only improve the function and appearance of the site, but also significantly enhance tourism opportunities and promote access to the Port Macquarie foreshore area.
The resort style hotel was constructed in 1984 and will be re-branded Sails Resort Port Macquarie – managed by Rydges from 1 July when day to day management and operation of the Hotel is officially handed over to Rydges Hotels and Resorts.
Group General Manager of Rydges Hotels and Resorts, Norman Arundel, said the company was keen to ensure Sails Resort retains its unique identity, whilst introducing the additional marketing and distribution power that will come with the Rydges brand.
“We are very excited to extend our hotel portfolio in Port Macquarie and recognise the strong appeal of the region for leisure travellers, conference and event organisers and local commercial businesses,” he said.
“An early priority will be to upgrade the Resort’s restaurant and bar offering.”
All 83 guest rooms have large balconies or terraces with most enjoying water views over Pelican Bay and the marina or landscaped gardens. The hotel features a large atrium style lobby highlighted by sky lighting and also has a signature restaurant and bar with spectacular marina views.
Sails Resort also offers six flexible conference spaces with the ability to cater for up to 150 guests.
