Exclusive by James Wilkinson at IHIF in Berlin
Starwood’s President of Global Development, Simon Turner, says he is expecting growth to remain firmly in the upper-upscale and upscale segments going forward, with limited activity in the luxury space.
Speaking exclusively on camera to HM at the recent International Hotel Investment Forum in Berlin, Germany, Turner said growth would come for the company’s St Regis, W and Luxury Collection brands, but it would be limited, with Westin, Sheraton, Four Points by Sheraton, Aloft and Element the keys to growth.
Turner said some cities could see growth for St Regis and Luxury Collection, with they would need to be exceptional projects that would need to be in the top three properties in a given city.
Turner is responsible for Starwood’s global development activities including hotel and resort development, property acquisitions and dispositions, franchise and management pipeline expansion and real estate investment management.
