The Windsor hotel in Melbourne is offering former wedding guests of the 130 year old Grand Dame an opportunity to stay in a luxurious suite for the same price they paid on their wedding night.
And as a bonus for any former wedding guests who stayed at the hotel and are celebrating more than 60 years of marriage, the hotel is giving away two nights in the Royal Suite including a butler and room service breakfast.
The offer is open for couples who were married and stayed at The Windsor on their wedding night. The bride and groom will be asked to send copies of their wedding photograph taken at the hotel or any receipts in order to book.
Rates will be based on the rate of the year they were married and will be offered for the first 15 couples to reserve in each of the following anniversary groups:
30+ years: 2 nights in a Windsor Suite: rates starting at $40 per night
40+ years: 2 nights in a Victorian Suite: rates starting at 3 pounds sterling
60+ years: complimentary accommodation for 2 nights in the Royal Suite
The Windsor is one of the world’s oldest hotels and pre-dates The Savoy in London, The Ritz in Paris, Raffles in Singapore and The Plaza and Waldorf Astoria in New York.
It has been the haunt of a distinguished list of celebrities since opening its doors in 1883 and notable past and present guests include Katharine Hepburn, Sir Laurence Olivier, Vivien Leigh, Meryl Streep, Barry Humphries, Sir Robert Menzies, Paul Keating and Sir Richard Branson.
