Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney is set to welcome back guests tonight (Nov 9 ) after a major power failure on Wednesday night shut down the 563-room skyscraper.
According to Shangri-La, the property lost all power “due to a failure with the hotel’s main power connection” shortly before midnight on November 7 and because the power was not able to be resorted, guests were re-accommodated in other hotels.
Speaking exclusively to HM, a Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney spokesperson said the property “was back to full power and will re-open tonight, with guests checking-in from 3pm today (AEDST)”.
As a result of the failure, the decision was made by the hotel’s General Manager Franz Donhauser to close the hotel yesterday (Nov 8 ) to “minimise further disruption”.
“No one was left stranded and guests were re-accommodated in other hotels in the city,” the spokesperson said.
“Our focus is to guests and we did everything to accommodate them and not disrupt them.”
Stay tuned to HM for further updates during the day (Nov 9).
