Langham Hospitality Group’s CEO Brett Butcher used this week’s (Aug 8 ) opening party at The Langham Sydney to flag the company’s intention to expand across Australia and the South Pacific region.
“Now we have the three financial capitals of the Pacific covered [with The Langham hotels in Auckland, Melbourne and Sydney], you can see that our strategy is clear – we are going to continue to expand in Australia and we are going to continue to expand in the Pacific,” Butcher said.
“We have our eyes on Perth. There is a lot of talk in the media about the booming hotel market in Perth and we have our eye on that as well.
“We would like to be represented in Queensland and we would like to be represented in resorts in the South Pacific nations as well.
“So the work and the journey continues,” he said.
Butcher said even though the company had just purchased The Observatory Hotel this week, there was more to come in Sydney.
“Our work is not yet done in Sydney,” he said. “We think that Sydney can have a number of Langham hotels.
“We have a fabulous Langham Place brand and we want to bring [that brand] to Sydney.
“We have been very earnest to bring The Langham here and we are going to be similarly earnest to bring Langham Place to Sydney as well,” Butcher said.
Up next, the chain’s third United States hotel is set to open in May 2013 with the debut of The Langham Chicago, one that Butcher says “will offer the best accommodation in town”.
