As the North Queensland resources boom drives demand for local hotel accommodation in Townsville and the area’s surrounding mining and holiday hubs, SilverNeedle Hospitality has announced it will open two new properties in Townsville during May.
The Country Comfort City Oasis and Chifley Plaza Townsville will both open for business in May 2012 and will join the existing SilverNeedle owned Australis Mariners North Townsville in servicing the area’s demand for flexible accommodation options for short and long term stays.
“Much of our network growth in the last 12 months has been in North Queensland and the opening of Chifley Plaza and Country Comfort hotels in Townsville will be a welcome addition, especially when it comes to meeting the demand from our key corporate and government clientele,” said SilverNeedle Hospitality’s Vice President of Operations, Jonathan Wooller.
He said SilverNeedle Hospitality’s expansion in key mining regions like Townsville is a key part of the group’s growth strategy, who acquired Constellation Hotels last year.
“Having three key brands in Townsville will be a catalyst for growth in other important mining hubs in Northern Australia such as Cairns, Bundaberg, Rockhampton and Brisbane, and will allow us to gain further traction and market share,” Wooller said.
