Novotel Wellington is set to begin a major renovation project with all 139 rooms to be refurbished by the end of August 2012.
According to Accor, the new rooms have been designed” to reflect the vibrant arts community of New Zealand’s capital, with fabulous new beds, designer headboards with bright splashes of colour, bold feature artwork, and even red glass splash-backs in the bathrooms to give a wow factor to the clean, white interiors”.
Rooms will reflect the `Novotel Next’ room concept which has already proven popular at the new Novotel Auckland Airport, with connectivity panels, iPod docking stations and wireless internet access added to cater for the demands of today’s sophisticated traveller.
The innovative Next room has been designed with a plethora of features to ‘re-humanise’ the travel experience, enhance the spaciousness of the room and ensure functionality within the room facilities.
Furniture has been designed for multiple uses such as a versatile side table that can be drawn to the bed to provide a desk for work, a table for dining or a place to rest a book while reading.
The design is accented by a timeless colour scheme in earthy browns, contrasted with white, and highlighted with bold splashes of red and orange.
Novotel Wellington General Manager, Philip Hilton, said that the refurbishment was important for Wellington tourism:
“Our hotel has been one of the leading 4-star hotels in the capital since it opened and we are fortunate to have one of the city’s best locations, so after a decade it’s time to give the hotel a fresh new look, state-of-the-art communications and our innovative new room design,” he said. “Our new Executive Rooms will be particularly welcomed by the corporate market.
“Despite the major changes, it will not mean much disruption to guests staying in the hotel during the refurbishment phase.”
Novotel Wellington opened in 2002 and is located on The Terrace, with great views over the and direct lift access to Lambton Quay. It provides a great base for corporate or leisure guests and boasts an intimate restaurant and fitness centre.
