The City of Los Angeles is gearing up to welcome U.S. Travel Association’s International Pow Wow, the American travel industry’s premier international marketplace from April 21-25, 2012.
The citywide event will highlight an array of Los Angeles venues, from landmark hotels and cultural and entertainment attractions to award-winning restaurants and neighborhood districts throughout Los Angeles.
Los Angeles is expected to see an immediate economic impact of USD$9.7 million as a result of hosting the convention and another estimated USD$350 million two- to four-years following Pow Wow because of the expected increase of international travel business.
“We are working with our partners to showcase all aspects of the City of Los Angeles to the Pow Wow delegates, some of the most influential international travel professionals,” said the Los Angeles Tourism and Convention Board’s President and CEO, Mark Liberman.
“International visitors make up about 20% of the visitor market, but account for nearly 35% of visitor spending. Pow Wow gives us the opportunity to grow our international market share.”
International Pow Wow attracts more than 1,500 international and domestic buyers from 70 countries, over 400 international media and travel suppliers and organizations from every region of the United States.
“The last time LA hosted Pow Wow was in 2004,” Liberman said. “So much has changed throughout the City since then. We are anxious to showcase the outstanding new products that our City has to offer, while generating future revenue.”
A significant Australian delegation will be at Pow Wow, including HM magazine. Stay tuned to hotelmanagement.com.au for on-location videos and reports with industry leaders from April 22 onwards.
