Mantra Group CEO Bob East was elected to Gold Coast Tourism’s Board of Directors at the Corporation’s Annual General Meeting this week.
East, a first time nominee, secured enough votes to make it on to the board outright while other contenders for the three available board positions were put to a random draw, as per the organisation’s rules when equal votes are polled for candidates.
As the largest accommodation provider on the Gold Coast, with 27 Peppers, Mantra and BreakFree properties across Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach and Coolangatta, East is well positioned to provide valuable direction as the Gold Coast gears up for the much anticipated 2018 Commonwealth Games.
“I want to show Australia and the world how conducive the Gold Coast is for hosting international scale events with our combined accommodation capacity, facilities, attractions, accessibility and natural resources,” says East.
The eight-strong board is lead by re-elected Chairman Paul Donovan, COO Gold Coast Airport and Vice-Chair Adrienne Readings, General Manager Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre.
