While US President Barack Obama created a media frenzy during his first visit ‘down under’, Australia’s Prime Minister, Julia Gillard and other senior APEC dignitaries drew similar responses from Hawaii’s largest hotel group, Outrigger Hotels and Resorts.
David Carey, President and Chief Executive Officer of Outrigger Enterprises Group, rolled out the red carpet during the APEC summit for Gillard and New Zealand’s Deputy Prime Minister, Bill English who stayed at the Outrigger Reef on the Beach.
Personally welcoming them and their entourages, Carey presented Prime Minister Gillard with a ceremonial lei before she checked into her beautiful deluxe ocean view suite.
Other dignitaries Carey welcomed included Australian and New Zealand Ambassadors to the US, The Hon. Kim Beazley, AC and Rt Hon. Mike Moore.
“We were honored to host the delegations, especially since Australia and New Zealand are among our very best supporters in both Hawaii and our Asia-Pacific destinations, and the Outrigger Reef on the Beach is a perennial favourite,” Carey said.
